WDIV Local 4, the NBC affiliate television station in Detroit, is seeking a full-time Information Technology (IT) Specialist to join our Engineering Department. The I.T. Technician will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the IT environment for WDIV Detroit. The IT environment contains a blend of Windows and Linux servers, Cisco switches and routers, Active Directory, MS DNS, VM Ware, VDI, Cloud Computing, MS Exchange and more. The ideal candidate will provide technical assistance and support to employees, ensuring that computer systems, hardware, and software operate efficiently and effectively. This role involves troubleshooting, resolving technical issues, and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.

Experience
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to computer systems, software applications, and network connectivity.
  • Provide technical support via phone, email, or in-person to employees experiencing technical difficulties.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as software updates, virus scans, and backups.
  • Maintain accurate records of technical issues, solutions, and system configurations.
  • Offer training and guidance to employees on new software applications and technologies.
  • Collaborate with IT team members to resolve complex technical issues and implement new technologies.
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure high standards of issue resolution and customer satisfaction.
  • Stay updated with the latest technologies and trends in IT to improve support services.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in a similar role, providing technical support in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be familiar with technologies including but not limited to: Windows/Linux servers, Cisco switches/routers, Active Directory, DNS, VM Ware, VDI, Cloud Computing, network architecture, streaming technologies, video file compression & Windows/Mac OSX desktop support.
  • Strong knowledge of operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux).
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Familiarity with network protocols and configurations.
  • Solid understanding of the TCP/IP protocol stack with knowledge of network switching and routing concepts.
  • Understanding of network security appliances such as Palo Alto firewalls & Qualys.
  • Experience with VoIP and other remote work technologies.
  • Outstanding troubleshooting abilities with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team under the supervision of the IT Manager.
  • Provide excellent customer service and complete assigned projects on time and within specifications.
  • Participate as part of a team that provides 24x7, 365 days per year on-call support for equipment failures or disasters.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a broadcast facility.
  • Familiarity with NRCS (Newsroom Computer System), MAM (Media Asset Management), DAM (Digital Asset Management), and OTT (Over-the-top) technologies.
