Senior Scrum Master

DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Senior Scrum Master to join our team specializing in Systems/Information Technology for our Cummins Inc. facility in Columbus, IN.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

The Scrum Master role is a unique Agile team member who dedicates much of their time to facilitating communication, coordination, and cooperation among team members, ultimately assisting the team in achieving their delivery goals.

As a servant leader, the Scrum Master enables teams to self-organize, self-manage, and deliver through effective Lean-Agile practices. They support ScrumXP, Kanban, and other methodologies adopted by the team and help coordinate with other teams on the Agile Release Train (ART).

• Lean-Agile Leadership : Exhibit behaviors of a Lean-Agile Leader with a Lean-Agile Mindset, helping the team embrace SAFe Core Values, adopt SAFe Principles, and implement SAFe practices.

• Rule Reinforcement : Ensure adherence to Scrum rules, Built-In Quality practices from Extreme Programming (XP), Work in Process (WIP) limits from Kanban, and other agreed-upon processes.

• Team Facilitation : Continuously challenge old development norms to improve quality, predictability, flow, and velocity. Help the team focus on creating increments of value each iteration and achieving daily and Iteration Goals within the context of the current Program Increment (PI) Objectives.

• Retrospective Facilitation : Guide the team in taking responsibility for their actions and facilitate retrospectives. Teach problem-solving techniques to help the team become better problem-solvers.

• Backlog Management : Assist the Product Owner in managing the backlog and guiding the team, fostering a healthy team dynamic regarding priorities and scope.

• Impediment Removal : Facilitate the removal of impediments, supporting the team in addressing and eliminating issues to improve the likelihood of achieving Iteration objectives.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

College, university, or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related subject, or relevant equivalent experience required. Agile Certification (Certified Scrum Master - CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM) or Safe Scrum Master Certification (SSM) are preferred. This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Experience working in a software development organization and in an Agile environment as a scrum master demonstrating knowledge and practical experience of the Lean methodology, principles and tools are preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Information:

• Preferred Experience: SAFe Scrum Master certification, Scrum Master certification, and relevant industry experience.

• SAFe Guidance : Support teams in improving the quality of deliverables and meeting the Definition of Done (DoD). Foster a culture of technical discipline and craftsmanship.

• Team Building : Focus on improving team dynamics and performance, coaching the team in self-management, resolving interpersonal conflicts, and identifying growth opportunities. Escalate unresolved issues to management when necessary.

• Inter-Team Coordination : Help coordinate inter-team cooperation and support the team's efforts to improve communications and relationships with other teams. Represent the team in the Scrum of Scrums (SoS) and build effective relationships with the System Team, User Experience, Architecture, and Shared Services.

• SAFe Adoption : Support the overall adoption of SAFe across the enterprise by coaching stakeholders and non-agile teams, participating in the Scrum Master Community of Practice, and supporting the organization's SPCs. Assist in preparation for ART activities, including PI Planning, System Demos, and Inspect and Adapt.

• Estimating Support : Guide the team in establishing normalized estimates and understanding how to estimate Features and Capabilities.
