09 Responsibilities and Impact:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Software Development Engineer with a strong background in SQL and Python, and extensive experience in handling various data file formats such as CSV and Parquet. The ideal candidate will also possess knowledge and experience with Power BI. This role is crucial for developing and maintaining robust data solutions that support our business objectives and enhance our data-driven decision-making capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain efficient and scalable SQL queries and Python scripts to process and analyze large datasets.
  • Work with various data file formats, including CSV and Parquet, to ensure seamless data integration and transformation.
  • Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI to provide insights and support data-driven decision-making across the organization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders, to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies in data engineering and software development.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance data quality and efficiency.
Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $66,000 to $100,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual's geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan.

What We're Looking For:
Basic Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Software Development Engineer or Data Engineer with a focus on SQL and Python development.
  • Strong knowledge of data file formats, including CSV and Parquet.
  • Proficiency in creating data visualizations and reports using Power BI.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Databricks for data engineering tasks, including data ingestion, transformation, and analysis.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric to build and manage data pipelines and workflows.
  • Familiarity with Alteryx or similar tools
  • Familiarity with Generative AI tools such as co-pilot
  • Experience in cloud-based data platforms and services.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
  • Familiarity with data lakes and data lakehouses
  • Knowledge of additional programming languages or tools relevant to data engineering.
